Benidorm starts on Sunday the asphalting of Beniardá Avenue with a material that absorbs traffic noise

11 January 2019
Benidorm asfalta a partir del domingo la avenida Beniardá con un material que absorbe el ruido del tráfico

Benidorm City Council starts this Sunday afternoon the asphalting of Beniardá Avenue, in which "a material that absorbs traffic noise will be used", according to the mayor, Toni Pérez. This action is one of the improvements obtained by the City Council within the contract of the 'Asphalt Plan 2018', valued at 500,000 euros and with which the pavement has been renewed on around twenty streets in the city.

The mayor has indicated that "knowing the results that the Acoustic Map commissioned by the City Council and presented this week in the Mobility Advisory Council, the municipal technicians have opted to use sono-reducer asphalt in Beniardá Avenue to mitigate the noise that occurs on this road, the main access to Benidorm from the region and the one that registers the highest traffic ".

Pérez recalled that the Acoustic Map "indicates that traffic is the main focus of noise in Benidorm, although with sound pollution levels although below the usual results in Spanish cities and that in no case affect more than 6, 6% of the population. " The same document notes that "Beniardá Avenue is one of those that concentrate a good part of this noise pollution, hence we have taken advantage of this resurfacing to take measures that reduce the noise impact of traffic on this road."

The mayor indicated that the resurfacing of Beniardá Avenue "is also in line with the Road Safety Plan", addressed in the Advisory Council on Mobility last December, which stated that "it was necessary to improve this road to reduce the accident rate, something what the settlement of the firm should contribute to. "

Asphalting work will be carried out at night "so as not to interfere with the traffic of the avenue and so that the action can be carried out as quickly as possible to cause the minimum inconvenience". Specifically, it is expected that the right side of the road will be paved in the ascending direction from Sunday through Monday; and from Monday to Tuesday act on the left side.

The mayor indicated that later the asphalting works will be moved to l'Aigüera Avenue, where the most worn stretches of road will be cleaned up; and in the following days the machines will work in Adolfo Suárez and Orxeta streets. In all cases, the work will be done at night.

With these actions the 'Asphalted Plan 2018' is completed, which has reached "a large part of the city's neighborhoods". Thus, La Cala has been acted in the streets of Pajares, Avilés and Asturias; in Colonia Madrid there has been intervention in Florida, Beniardá and Orxeta streets; while in Els Tolls the streets Municipio, Finlandia, Islandia, Bélgica, Portugal and Francia have been resurfaced. In the downtown area, the works have been located on l'Aigüera Avenue, the upper part of Almendros Street, Jupiter and Marqués de Comillas streets, as well as several roads adjacent to it; and in Salt de l'Aigua, in the parking in front of the bus station and in the parking of the Official School of Languages (EOI).

Apart from the resurfacing of Beniardá Avenue, the City Council has recently acted in the area with the adaptation of the new public parking located next to the TRAM station - with capacity for 1,000 vehicles - and within the Universal Accessibility Plan it plans to do so in the section that links this road with the first roundabout of the CV-70.
