Benidorm showcases its sustainable model alongside other pioneering sun and beach destinations
The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, participated this Thursday in a round table on ‘Sustainable and digital destinations, the new gold of tourism’ together with the rest of the mayors that make up the Alliance of Tourist Municipalities: Calviá, Lloret de Mar, Salou, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Torremolinos, Arona and Adeje. The round table was held within the framework of FiturTechY and was moderated by the president of the Hotel Technology Institute (ITH), also from Benidorm, Javier García Cuenca. The actions being developed by the eight municipalities that make up this alliance of pioneers of sun and beach tourism to enhance their natural resources in the field of tourism were addressed.
Toni Pérez has highlighted Benidorm's commitment to the digitalisation of all tourist offer segments and sustainability in its three aspects: environmental, economic and social, and involving the private sector and citizens in all the actions promoted by the City Council.
Also within the AMT agenda, Toni Pérez attended the AMT Smart Destination Awards ceremony, which the last eight years awarded the most innovative ideas applied to tourism. On this occasion, projects were recognised in the segments of 'Environmental sustainability', 'Comprehensive management of the destination', 'Interaction with tourists and citizens', 'Promotion and marketing of the destination' and 'Innovative project of the destination'. The Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosario Sánchez, was in charge of closing the event.
