Benidorm pays tribute to its employees on the occasion of Saint Rita festivity

The event, which took place at noon in the Town Hall Assembly Hall, was presided over by the Mayor, Toni Pérez, accompanied by the Councillor for Human Resources, Ana Soliveres, and other members of the municipal council. Those honoured received commemorative gifts as a symbol of institutional gratitude for their years of dedication to public service.

The event began at 10:00 a.m. with a mass in honour of Saint Rita at the Church of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna. Later, in the Town Hall, recognitions were presented: 17 employees were honoured for their retirement, and another 21 for having completed a quarter of a century of continuous service to Benidorm City Hall.

During the event, a memorial service was also held for José Vicente Díaz Llorca, the recently deceased civil servant. The mayor presented his widow and daughter with a plaque of recognition commemorating their missing colleague.

Finally, Toni Pérez closed the event by addressing all those present and reminding them that "if there is an essential public service for any citizen," it is "the provision of services by their local council." The municipality is "the closest administration, the first door to knock on," and officials have an obligation "not only to serve, but also to welcome, always kindly and, if possible, with a smile."

The mayor noted that more and more people are registered in Benidorm, "the only city in the province" with more than 50,000 inhabitants with an unemployment rate "below 10%. Citizens need to interact with their local council, and therefore, he thanked the civil servants, and especially those present, for "a job well done."

The mayor concluded by emphasising the responsibility that comes with working for the local government: "We are here to provide the best possible service to the citizens of Benidorm." The ceremony concluded with a group photo featuring all those recognised, along with the Mayor and the Councillor for Human Resources.
