Benidorm moves to the FEMP that has two houses to house refugees

Benidorm City Council has moved to the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) that has two municipal houses that can be used by some of the people who travel on the ship Aquarius. The City Council has responded to the communication sent this morning by the Secretary General of FEMP, an entity that is responsible for coordinating the reception of refugees and migrants embarked on the Aquarius and that has been made available to municipalities interested in hosting to those affected.

In a communication sent from the City Hall, the offer that was already made in the last quarter of 2015 is reiterated, when the plenary session approved to take refuges in the network of refuge cities.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Angela Llorca, have detailed that the aforementioned homes are at Plaza del Prelado D. Antonio Bayona, and have recalled that they "were conditioned at the end of 2015, precisely in prevision to welcome refugees from the war in Syria. " In total, the houses have the capacity to accommodate a dozen people.

The Office of Municipal Coordination of Refugee Aid of the FEMP will inform the National System of Reception and Integration of Requesters and Beneficiaries of International Protection of the housing resources available to Benidorm.
