The Tapas and Pinchos Contest reaches its eighth edition with the challenge of "improving to reach excellence"

Twenty-six catering establishments compete from June 16 to 24 to offer diners the best skewer in Benidorm within the 8th edition of Tapas and Pinchos Contest, the main activity of Benidorm Gastronómico, jointly organized by the Department of Tourism and the Association Abreca, and that has been presented today at the Tourism Center (CdT) Domingo Devesa.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, attended the presentation; the general director of Tourism, Raquel Huete; members of the corporation; the godfather of Benidorm Gastronómico, Antonio Barco; the president of Abreca, Javier del Castillo; as well as the members of the jury who, together with Barco, will value the creation of all participating establishments: Daniel Frías, José Puentes, Mariló Martín Tejera, and Lluis Pérez.

The mayor assured that this Tapas and Pinchos Contest offers the possibility of "enjoying the best of our concentrated gastronomy", and has highlighted "the design" and "quality" that reflect the participating establishments in creations more and more elaborated . Pérez has transferred to the restaurateurs that with this contest "you go back to make great the gastronomy of Benidorm" and it has remembered that this activity of Tapas and Pinchos is the last one that is celebrated before the summer, since the following one will take place already once surpassed the high season.

The general director of Tourism has recognized the work of the restorers and has encouraged them to count on "the human capital" that is formed daily in the CdT Domingo Devesa; and he added that events such as the Benidorm Gastronómico contribute to the city "is known not only for the beaches or the magnificent hotels."

The president of Abreca has indicated that since the start of this contest the creations of the restorers have experienced "an important evolution", so the challenge is now "to improve to reach excellence".

As in previous editions, each tapa and skewer will have a price of 2 euros and will be the guests themselves who will decide with their vote the Special Audience Award. In order to participate in the voting, at least five participating establishments must be visited. Voting can be done through the Gastroeventos app or through the brochure of the contest itself. The guests who cast their vote will opt for several prizes.

The participating establishments in the VIII Tapas and Pinchos Contest are: Bi-Arritz, Café & Bistro Tapas 18, Cervecería Agelillo, El Bodegón Aurrerá, El Choquero, El Mesón-Cervecería Cruz Blanca, El Txoko, Esturión, Jardín Mediterráneo, Kaixo, La Barra, La Brasería, La Cava Aragonesa, La Mejillonera, La Tabernita del Sur, Tapería Aurrerá, Los Peces, Margem Restobar, Marisquería El Puerto, Ole tu Cono, Pintxos Aurrerá, Andalusian Tavern, Terra Atlantica, Tragantúa, Vinomio and Zarzosa .
