The City Council opens ‘Parenthesis Grants’ to new sectors, after having granted benefits to nearly 900 companies and self-employed

Benidorm mobilizes more than 6 million euros for new aid to the productive fabric

18 May 2021
Benidorm moviliza más de 6 millones de euros para nuevas ayudas al tejido productivo

Benidorm City Council is going to mobilize more than 6 million euros in the coming weeks to continue supporting the productive fabric of the city with "new aid", as reported today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, who has advanced that "we are talking about three lines of aid, aimed at different sectors and types of companies but whose main activity is tourism ”.
As indicated by Toni Pérez, “the first measure that we promote is a second call for the 'Ayudas Paréntesis', with which in a first phase we have already assisted about 900 professionals and companies with up to 10 workers for a series of sectors set by the Generalitat Valenciana ”. "After having injected practically 2 million euros into the productive fabric of Benidorm with these ‘Ayudas Paréntesis’, we are now launching a second call in which we work in two directions," he specified.
Thus, the mayor has detailed, “on the one hand we open these aids to companies and professionals of the sectors included in the first call but who do not have their fiscal domicile in Benidorm but do carry out their activity in our city, by having in it a establishment". "On the other hand - he added - we extend this aid to companies and self-employed with tax domicile in Benidorm and who are attached to CNAEs that were not initially included by the Generalitat Valenciana in the ‘Ayudas Paréntesis’. Specifically, in this second phase, sectors related to commerce, taxis, hairdressers and beauty centers or washing and dry cleaning centers will be able to benefit from this aid.
The mayor explained that "the procedure and amounts of this second call for the 'Ayudas Paréntesis' will be exactly the same as in the first, in such a way that companies and professionals will receive an additional aid of 2,000 and 200 euros for each worker registered ”.
Toni Pérez recalled that "within ‘Ayudas Paréntesis’ program corresponds to Benidorm a total of 5.2 million euros, contributed by the City Council, the Alicante Provincial Council and the Generalitat." After completing the first phase of these grants, "there is still a remainder of 3.2 million euros so" we have decided, as allowed by the program regulations, to open these grants "to certain activities, companies and professionals. who were not able to access these benefits at first ”.
But in addition, Benidorm City Council is already finalizing aids specifically aimed at the city's accommodation sector: hotels, campsites, pensions, hostels, apartment blocks and management companies. In fact, "the draft of the bases of these aid has been transferred today to the groups of the Corporation so that they can make their contributions." Broadly speaking, these grants provide benefits that "range from 1,000 to 90,000 euros depending on the category and number of rooms or apartments in the establishment."
The third aid "will be directed to those companies that were excluded from the 'Ayudas Paréntesis' for having more than 10 workers" from "such eminently tourist sectors as hotels, collective passenger transport, amusement parks, showrooms, beverage distributors, catering companies and companies that organize conventions and fairs, or film exhibitions ”.
As explained by Toni Pérez "these aids may be attended by companies in these sectors that have more than 10 workers on their payroll". To start with, "and to make their situation equal to those companies that have been able to take part in the 'Ayudas Paréntesis' by workforce volume," a minimum benefit of 4,200 euros is established - equivalent to 2,000 euros per company plus the 'extra' per 11 workers at a rate of 200 euros per employee, setting a maximum amount of these grants will be 7,000 euros.
