Benidorm invests 150,000 euros in maintenance and safety improvements in the city's parks
Benidorm City Council, through its Parks and Gardens Department, has invested approximately €150,000 in several projects to improve safety and maintenance in various public parks throughout the city. These interventions have primarily consisted of replacing damaged furniture, installing new wooden perimeter railings, and adding new swings, outdoor fitness equipment, and shaded areas in locations most frequented by children and the elderly.
This morning, the Councillor for Parks and Gardens, José Ramón González de Zárate, visited several parks to oversee the ongoing work. Specifically, he visited Rincón de Loix Park, the park at the intersection of Avenida Bélgica and Beata María Sufragio Orts, Séquia Mare Park, Foietes Park, and El Moralet Park.
As the councillor explained, the maintenance work has focused on creating new shaded areas in parks most frequented by young children and the elderly, such as Rincón de Loix, which has swings and outdoor fitness equipment. The wooden fencing there, which had deteriorated over time, has also been replaced. New barriers have also been installed in other areas such as Séquia Mare, Foietes, and El Moralet. In the Els Tolls area, new swings have also been installed "for children aged 0 to 14," stated González de Zárate, who also specified that the work will be completed by mid-month.
"This administration acts with people of all ages in mind, but in these cases, we focus on the youngest and the oldest so that they have the greatest opportunities and options to engage in healthy exercise and spend their free time in comfortable and pleasant spaces," affirmed González de Zárate.
The councillor indicated that the investment allocated to these projects is approximately €150,000. “Around €50,000 has been earmarked for new swings in the Els Tolls neighbourhood park, another €50,000 for creating shade structures in Rincón de Loix and repairing and installing new perimeter fences, and approximately €15,000 for new safety zones for young children. Labour costs are not included in this amount,” the councillor specified.
The head of Parks and Gardens reminded everyone that the municipality has a maintenance contract that covers all parks, and work is carried out continuously.” He added that next year there will be an “increase” in funding to maintain and replace elements that have become outdated over time or that need to be replaced due to updated certifications.”
