Benidorm installs glass railings in El Tossal, which has registered more than 2,200 visitors since the beginning of the year

As part of the work to enhance El Tossal de La Cala site, the City Council has installed a section of glass railings in the viewpoint area, from which the entire city can be seen, thus configuring a new 'balcony' in the urban fabric of Benidorm. This section is made up of eight sheets of safety glass, following the aesthetic line of those previously installed in El Castell and Paseo de Tamarindos and which "have been very well received by the public", according to the mayor, Toni Perez.

The councillor has indicated that with "this new 'balcony' we give even more enhancement to an iconic enclave of the city and complement the visit to the site, which has become a point of interest and reference, as well as an outdoor activity safe and increasingly recurrent for the citizens of Benidorm, as it is also for people who visit us now and for those who will do so as soon as tourist activity resumes ”.

In this regard, the Councilor for Historical Heritage, Ana Pellicer, has reported that "during the month of January 1,631 people visited El Tossal, and so far in February there are already more than 600 who have come to the site to see closer to this landmark of our past as a city and to admire the views of Benidorm from 'the castellum', where many people end their walks ”.

The holder of Historical Heritage recalled that the site "is open to the public every day of the week." Specifically, the opening hours from Monday to Friday are from 08:00 to 20:00, while on weekends you can visit from 09:00 to 18:00.

In addition, “for those who want to know in greater detail the origin of the 'castellum', how life was organized in the fort and how the different excavation campaigns have developed, guided tours can also be arranged on Friday afternoons, from 4:00 p.m. at 6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ”. Reservations for guided tours, which are made by the hand of an archaeologist, must be processed through the email patrimonihistoric@benidorm.org.

“We want the experience of visiting and getting to know our Tossal de La Cala to be more and more complete and enriching for everyone”, she concluded.
