Benidorm improves pedestrian mobility and security on Vicente Pérez Devesa Avenue

13 June 2023
Benidorm mejora la movilidad y seguridad peatonal en la avenida Vicente Pérez Devesa

Benidorm City Council is executing some actions to improve mobility and pedestrian safety on Vicente Pérez Devesa Avenue, in front of the new children's playground. It is a neighborhood demand that had been transferred to the town hall due to the large influx registered by the venue.

Specifically, the work consists of creating a new pedestrian crossing at the height of the park so that children and their parents can cross the road more safely. In addition, a traffic light will be installed to regulate the passage of vehicles. It so happens that to cross to the other sidewalk from the park, you had to travel about 80 meters until you reached the nearest crossroads.

The acting mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, visited the works this morning together with the acting Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, and municipal technicians. There he pointed out that "taking into account the considerable increase in traffic on this avenue after the traffic regulation in Armada Española, it was necessary to undertake this intervention to protect pedestrians, to facilitate the transit of people with functional diversity and also to improve public ornament”.

In this sense, the intervention provides for the installation of directional tactile paving that will serve people with visual difficulties so that they can move more comfortably along this busy itinerary.

The forecast is for the work to be completed in the coming days so that the new step is in service before a greater influx of people and users of the park begins to be registered once the little ones have finished their school year.
