Sixteen establishments take part in a new edition that once again promotes local gastronomy

Benidorm celebrates the XIII Tapas and Pinchos Contest from June 16 to 25

13 June 2023
Tapas y Pinchos 2023

A total of 16 catering establishments in Benidorm will take part in the XIII Tapas and Pinchos Contest, the third activity included in the Gastronomic Benidorm 2023, which has been presented this afternoon at the Benidorm Tourism Development Center (CDT).

The act was attended by the acting mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, members of the local corporation, the national deputy Agustín Almodóbar, the president of Abreca, Francisco Javier del Castillo, and numerous guests.

This thirteenth edition will take place from June 16 to 25 and, as on previous occasions, it starts with the aim of promoting local gastronomy as one of the main attractions of Benidorm.

This is precisely what the president of Abreca, Francisco Javier del Castillo, has focused on in his intervention, who has expressed his “pride” for the “high level of the participating tapas and pinchos, which has risen a lot, more each year”. The hotelier has advocated ensuring that visitors can say "that Benidorm also eats very well" and has urged professionals in the sector to "continue working on what you believe in".

For his part, the General Director of Tourism, Herick Campos, wanted to "recognize the work of the City Council and Visit Benidorm for making visible something that was not so visible" and stated that "public-private collaboration is on the right track".

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, highlighted the local products for the contest because "the tapa requires art, innovation, and good taste". Pérez stressed the importance of "that we promote our products and gastronomy, which today focuses on something as small but as tasty as tapas".

The jury that will award the first prize tasted the tapas in the contest. There will also be a second prize that will come from public voting. To vote, you have to visit any of the participating establishments and taste the tapa or pincho in the contest. Then you have to ask the waiter for the QR code of the vote, scan it and rate the tapa with your mobile device between 1 and 5 stars. Voters will raffle two dinners for two diners to enjoy at any of the participating restaurants. You can vote from June 16 to 25.

The establishments taking part in this 13th edition are El Bodegón, El Mesón, El Puerto, El Esturión, La Brasería Aurrerá, La Cava Aragonesa, La Tabernita del Sur, La Tapería Aurrerá, Linaje de Castilla, Los Peces, Malaspina, Maüi Beach Gastrolounge, Molta Pasta, Pintxos Aurrerá, Taberna Andaluza and Bar Zarzosa.
