For the mayor, Toni Pérez, the book allows us "not to forget Luis' work or all those who have made history with him"
Benidorm hosts the presentation of the book on Luís Colombo, an audiovisual history of the province
The mayor of Benidorm,. Toni Pérez, has stood out in the presentation of the book 'Luis Colombo, I was a camera of…', which is a compendium of "the history of the province of Alicante and Benidorm and in the audiovisual", pointing out as a strong point of the protagonist "the ability to be a notary of the history of those days" that, "as no one portrayed behind the viewfinder of his camera".
The book, Pérez recalled, “has had a long process, which stalled the 2020 pandemic”, but that “like Benidorm” has gone through the process “to arrive strongly at this time” and will be, Pérez specified, “a reference so as not to forget Luis Colombo's work or all those with whom he worked in his professional stage and who make history with him”.
On the fifth floor of El Torrejó Municipal Building, Luís Colombo Fernández-Dura and the journalist Martín Sanz have presented the book, together with the mayor of Benidorm, the cultural director of Juan Gil-Albert Institute, of the Alicante Provincial Council, and the director of the Department of Publications and Research of the institute, Toni Cabot, who introduced the event and introduced the speakers.
The mayor of Benidorm congratulated Juan Gil-Albert Institute of Culture and the author of the text, emphasizing that "this book inaugurates a new edition format that will bring much to the province."
The book, Toni Cabot pointed out in his introduction, is a succession of “stories and anecdotes” that the journalist Martín Sanz has threaded through. Pilar Tébar explained that it opens a new stage of publications and "represents a lifetime linked to cinema", where "the province of Alicante is the protagonist". The journalist Martín Sanz recalled the long creative process, "which began in March 2019" under the idea of "making a film manual" and which has become a book "where the life and career of Luis Colombo have merged" in an agile and complete interview format.
The protagonist, Luís Colombo, showed his satisfaction at seeing the final result, emphasizing that it was the idea of his daughter, the Olympian Liliana Fernández Steiner, to whom he listened. Collects and tell, she said, "the anecdotes and experiences that are worth telling."
The book, in chapters, recounts his career and professional experiences centred on the province of Alicante and related to his work as a cameraman for NO&DO, TVE, Channel 9, the film productions of his production company Colombo Films and his collaborations with Jess Franco or Faul Naschy, among others.
More than sixty people gathered at noon to attend the presentation of the book and congratulate the protagonist.
