Benidorm hosts the 6th Hosteltur Sustainable Tourism Meeting this Thursday
This Thursday, October 23rd, Benidorm City Hall Auditorium will host the fourth edition of the Sustainable Tourism Meeting organised by Hosteltur. The event will be held under the slogan "Sustainability as an opportunity" and will focus on specific initiatives that have successfully transformed sustainability into a driver of competitiveness. Mayor Toni Pérez emphasised that "once again, Benidorm is an example of good practices in sustainability and innovation, hosting a top-level meeting on a topic in which our city continues to be a driving force for projects and initiatives."
This event will address topics such as efficient and circular management models and experiences that improve customer satisfaction and loyalty. Speakers will highlight how sustainable initiatives are not only beneficial for the environment and society but also boost business profitability. The Hosteltur 2025 Sustainability Meeting has designed a full program for the morning of October 23rd, which will begin at 9:45 a.m. with the presentation of the Meeting by the editorial director of Hosteltur, Manuel Molina; the Councillor for the Presidency of Benidorm City Council, Juan Díaz; and the presenter and scientific communicator, Luis Quevedo.
At 10:00 a.m., the first panel, on "Sustainability and Tourism Data," will begin, with Claudia Magriñá, Sustainability Partner at Deloitte Spain, moderated by Manuel Molina. The second panel, scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m., is titled "The Implementation of the Sustainability Strategy in the Tourism World" and will feature Daniel Cordeiro, Deputy General Manager and Head of Sustainability at Banco Sabadell; Cristina Llopis, Head of Sustainability in the Balearic Islands at Caixabank; and Eugenio Peral, founder of Sustainable Development Initiatives (SDI) Europe, as moderator.
From 10:45 to 11:20, the program includes an interview with Luis Suárez, coordinator of the Conservation Department at WWF, moderated by José Angel Preciados, CEO of Ilunion Hotels. Several success stories will then be presented by Fernando Corvo, commercial director at Balantia by Iberdrola, and Pere Joan Devesa, general manager at Hoteles Poseidón, before a coffee break at 11:30.
Starting at 12:00, the activity will resume with the third panel, "The challenge of sustainability in hotels and cruise ships," featuring Catalina Alemany, director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Riu Hotels & Resorts; Rafael Fernández-Álava, director of Communications and External Affairs at Costa Cruises; and Fede Fuster, president of HOSBEC, who will moderate.
From 12:30 to 1:00 p.m., Panel 4 will discuss "Tour Operations and Technology" with Manuel Rúa, Director of the ESG Office at Amadeus; Ricard Querol, General Manager of Airports and Tourism Organisations at Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays; moderated by Natalia Prieto, Sustainability Manager at Ávoris Corporación Empresarial.
This will be followed by a presentation of new success stories by Iván Espinosa, Head of Reception at Ilunion Atrium, and Teresa Zamora, Director of Marketing and Communications, both at Ilunion Hotels.
Starting at 1:10 p.m., Panel 5 will begin: "Tourist Destinations and European Aid Supporting Sustainable Tourism Projects," with speakers Marco Táboas, Island Director of Tourism Demand and Hospitality at Fundación Mallorca Turismo, and Tono Franco, Managing Director of Visit Valencia, moderated by Leire Bilbao, Manager of Visit Benidorm.
This will be followed by a presentation entitled "Technology Applied to Sustainability in Practical Cases," featuring José Mañas, CEO and co-founder of WDNA Group, before the closing remarks and closing session, scheduled for 1:50 p.m., by Luis Quevedo, presenter and science communicator.
