The City Council signs an agreement with SUMA so that it can operate from this Monday in the first spaces open for public use, while carrying out renovation works at its headquarters
Benidorm is finalizing the renovation of the former courthouse on Beniardá Avenue
Benidorm City Council is finalising the renovation of the former courthouse on Beniardá Avenue to house municipal offices and other citizen services, following the transfer of these premises by the Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Regional Government) last May, following years of demands from the City Council. Mayor Toni Pérez visited these premises with the Councillors for Municipal Administrations, Mónica Gómez, and Technical Services, Francis Muñoz, to check the status of these works.
The mayor explained that "after nearly a decade of disuse, part of these premises will reopen next Monday to once again provide services to the public." Specifically, by temporarily housing the SUMA Tax Management office, with which the City Council has signed an agreement that will allow the provincial agency to operate in these first spaces open for public use while the renovation works on its headquarters in Benidorm, also located on Avenida de Beniardá, are underway.
With this, "we are providing SUMA with an adapted workspace and, in addition, facilitating customer service, so that people who need to go to the SUMA offices to carry out any procedure only have to walk a few meters along this same avenue, without having to make detours to receive assistance," added Toni Pérez.
The mayor also clarified that SUMA's occupation of these premises will last approximately 45 days, the duration of the planned construction of its main office. "So we remain committed to beginning the relocation of the Foietes-Colonia Madrid Municipal branch and the Generalitat's PROP service to these new premises before the end of this year."
The former Beniardá courthouse consists of a total of eleven premises occupying a surface area of approximately 1,250 square meters. In addition to the two aforementioned services, the City Council also plans to provide spaces for other municipal uses and citizen services, as well as the presence of organisations, associations, and citizen participation groups.
