Benidorm creates a participatory Forum to gather proposals about mobility and accessibility

03 March 2017
Benidorm crea un Foro participativo para recabar propuestas sobre movilidad y accesibilidad

The body is constituted next Tuesday in a call open to all citizens

The members are social enttities, business, neighborhood and municipal and external experts

The Town Council of Benidorm will constitute next week a participatory forum to gather proposals about mobility and universal accessibility. In addition, this 1st Mobility Forum will "analyze the habits and needs of citizens and visitors on their journeys through the city", information that "will allow to be more efficient when making decisions and implement measures related to mobility and accessibility", the councilman of the area, José Ramón González de Zárate, has deatiled.

Zárate recalled that the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) approved last year included the creation of several bodies, including this Forum, which is "the consultative body par excellence". It includes "all Benidorm associations that are related to mobility" - like taxi drivers and cyclists -, social entities, business and neighborhood associations, and external and municipal technicians.

The first meeting of this Forum will be next Tuesday, March 7, at 7:00 pm in the José Llorca Linares social center. The councilor has invited citizens to attend the Forum, listen to the various papers that have been scheduled, and "transfer their concerns and contribute their proposals and positive things to improve the mobility and accessibility of Benidorm."

The Mayor, Toni Pérez, will be in charge of inaugurating the Forum, which will include the director of Public Health of the Department of Health of the Marina Baixa, Inmaculada Clemente, with a conference about the 'Program for Prevention of Traffic Accidents and its major sequels'. About "Universal Accessibility in the Tourism Area" will speak Tatiana Alemán, technical director of Universal Accessibility, Tourism and Culture of the Representative Platform of People with Physical Disability (PREDIF); While the Local Police responsible for the Children's Traffic Park, Maribel Mozo, will address 'The importance of road education and accessibility in the youngest'.

Following these interventions will be proposed proposals for the inclusion of new members and for the European Mobility Week, which this year is celebrated from 16 to 22 September. The Forum will have its own email to which proposals and suggestions can be sent all year round: foromovilidad@benidorm.org.
