As a result of this cooperation, the city hosts this Thursday the first session of the VII 'Mental Health Educational Conferences', aimed at families and educators

Benidorm contributes 23,000 euros to organize training actions in collaboration with the Federation of AMPAs

Benidorm aporta 23.000 euros para organizar acciones formativas en colaboración con la Federación de AMPAs

Benidorm City Council will collaborate with the Regional Federation of Mothers and Fathers of Students in Benidorm and the Region to organise training actions aimed at parents whose children and teenagers study in our town. To this end, the Local Government Board has given the green light to the approval of an expense of 23,000 euros and the signing of an agreement with this entity, which will regulate the development of workshops and talks aimed at improving the skills of fathers and mothers to help their children in academic performance and other facets related to their education.

The Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, explained that this agreement “is part of the actions carried out by the City Council during this school year to collaborate with families and with the different educational entities in constant improvement” of the services provided to society.

In this sense, the councillor has highlighted that the associations of mothers and fathers "take on such important tasks as supporting families in everything that concerns the education of their children, as well as opening up participation to fathers and mothers in the management of educational centres”. For this reason, Moreno has described the role of the AMPAs as “very necessary” and has considered of “vital importance any support that is provided to them from the Administration so that they can continue carrying out this work, thus assuming the social challenge in the "education of the little ones in today's society."

The person responsible for Education has detailed that, to make use of this subsidy, the agreement establishes that the Regional Federation of AMPAs “may organize as many training actions as it considers, with the participation of experts in different areas, provided that they take place in the city of Benidorm and are aimed at parents of local students.”

The City Council will provide them with the municipal facilities for these activities and contribute to their dissemination and organization, to cover the largest number of participants possible.

As a result of this municipal cooperation with the AMPAs, this week one of the training actions that the Federation organizes within the framework of these agreements will take place. This is the first session of the VII 'Mental Health Educational Conferences', whose programming will take place this April over three days, aimed at mothers, fathers, guardians and teachers.

Maite Moreno has indicated that these sessions will take place in the assembly hall of the IES Bernat de Sarrià on April 18, 24 and 25 and they will address “different aspects to improve knowledge and approach to all types of health problems of children and teenagers, one of the most topical issues that concerns us the most."

The first of them, which will take place this Thursday, will last between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and will consist of three talks: 'The reality of students in educational centres', by psychologist Maribel Villaescusa; 'Suicide: The hidden evil', taught by psychiatrist Javier Sempere; and 'The separation of parents and management of emotions in the family', by therapist Cecilia Martí.

The second day will take place on April 24, Wednesday, from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will consist of the following conferences: 'Getting to Know the Adolescent' by paediatrician José Valdés; 'Strategies and Practices for mental health and comprehensive well-being, by Claudio Nieto; and 'Emotional well-being in educational centres', by Professor Consuelo Marcià.

These VII 'Mental Health Educational Conferences' will end on Thursday, April 25, with the third and final session, which will last between 5:15 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. The program is made up of the presentations 'Working on reality', by Jéssica Enamorado; 'Prevention of self-harming behaviour from the educational field', by psychologist Joan Roa Natividad; and 'Adolescence ends', by psychologist Antonio Ríos Sarrió.

In all three cases, attendance is free of charge, although to attend you must formalize a registration at the following link: https://www.ce3catorce.es/vii-jornadas-salud-mental
