Benidorm condemns the latest case of sexist violence

Benidorm has condemned today the latest case of gender violence, which brings to twelve the number of women murdered by their partners or former partners so far this year. Members of the municipal corporation, headed by the acting mayor, Ana Pellicer, and the Councilor for Equality, Paquita Ripoll; municipal workers; and citizens have observed a minute of silence at the gates of the City Hall to show their rejection to this new case, registered last week in Las Gabias (Granada) and confirmed yesterday by the Government Delegation for Gender Violence.
The events took place at dawn on Thursday, May 10, when the bodies of a 21-year-old girl and her former partner of 24, both with gunshot wounds, were found in a shooting range. After the pertinent investigations, the Civil Guard has concluded that the young man killed his ex-partner intentionally and later committed suicide using the same weapon.
