Benidorm condemns the last crime for sexist violence, registered in Arona

The City Council of Benidorm convened this noon for a minute of silence at Plaza SSMM Reyes de España to condemn and reject the last crime of sexist violence registered in the country and which brings to 13 women murdered by their partners or ex-partners in what year to date, and 1,144 since 2003.

The first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, and the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, have led this silent rally in which the victim of this latest crime, an 82-year-old woman allegedly murdered by her husband in Arona ( Tenerife) during the holidays.

The Department of Equality recalls that the City Council has staff specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who feels threatened. Likewise, it reiterates once again that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to eliminate it from the mobile call log. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and in 52 languages.
