Benidorm condemns the last crime of gender violence, registered in Lloret de Mar
Benidorm has once again shown its revulsion today at a new case of gender violence, with a silent rally at the gates of the City Hall presided over by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and by the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, and in which they have participated members of the Corporation and neighbours.
This last case, confirmed by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, was registered last Tuesday in Lloret de Mar (Girona) and brings to 12 the number of women murdered in Spain so far this year by their partners or ex-partners.
In this case, the sexist crime resulted in the death of a 53-year-old woman and her 18-year-old daughter. Both were murdered while they slept by the husband and father of the victims, who later took his own life by hanging himself in the garden of the family house.
The Department of Equality they have recalled that the City Council has personnel specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who feels threatened.
Likewise, it insists that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to eliminate it from the mobile call log. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and in 52 languages.
