Benidorm Choral Group prefaces Holy Week with a concert of sacred music

More than a hundred people, including the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, were able to enjoy the voices that, under the direction of Ramón Llorente Yáñez, offered a selection of liturgical music in Greek, Latin, English, and Spanish. The first part began with "Agni parthene" (Anonymous) and continued with "Podedma pesma" (Anonymous), "Pater Noster" (N. Kedrov), "Bogoroditse devo" (S. Rachmaninov), "Tebe Poyem" (P. Chesnokov), and the "Hymn of the Cherubim" (P. I. Tchaikovsky). After a brief break, the Benidorm Choral Ensemble performed "De Spiritu Sancto de profundis" (P. Janczak), "Popule meus" (Palestrina), "Northern Lights" (O. Gjeilo), "Ave Maria" (J. Arcadelt), "Abide With Me" (W. H. Monk), "Be Still My Soul" (J. Sibelius), and "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say" (R. Williams) in the second half.
Since its founding in 1981, the Benidorm Choral Ensemble has been a benchmark for vocal performance in Benidorm and the province of Alicante. It has performed concerts throughout Spain, Germany, Belgium, France, and Italy. Today, Saturday, lovers of sacred music have another opportunity to enjoy its harmonies in the second of the choir's Easter concerts, at 8:00 p.m., in the Church of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna.
