Benidorm celebrates La Festa de la Creu before thousands of residents and visitors
The girl Rosa Navarro Almiñana has recited the traditional verse to the Santa Creu
As it is being traditional every May 1 the city of Benidorm wakes up with the celebration of the Festa de la Creu, an endearing and popular fiesta, which has become one of the most deeply rooted fiesta of the festive calendar.
Last night the Creu was already adorned with hundreds of carnations in the Emilio Ortuño avenue, which today have been visited, from the church of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna, by the festive entities of Benidorm headed by the president of the Festa de la Creu, Paqui Calvo Pérez and the parish priest Aniceto Villamide who accompanied the mayor, Toni Perez; the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; the senator Agustín Almodóbar and other members of the municipal corporation.
Before the cross, the parish priest has blessed the town and Rosa Navarro Almiñana has recited the traditional verse to the Holy Cross. Subsequently, the participants have attended the Church of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna where a mass has taken place.
