Benidorm celebrates the 4th José Montes Congress of the Local Police to benefit Aspanion

Benidorm acoge el IV Congreso José Montes de la Policía Local a beneficio de Aspanion

This morning, the 4th José Montes Charity Congress of the Local Police began at the Benidorm Cultural Centre. The event, held to benefit the Association Against Childhood Cancer, Aspanion, runs from today until Friday, the 20th of this month. Its main focus will be on document forgery and the illegal trafficking of vehicles.

The official opening ceremony featured speeches by the Chief Commissioner of the Benidorm Local Police, José Carlos Amorós, and the Councilor for Citizen Security, Jesús Carrobles. Amorós explained that “Benidorm is located in a unique environment” and that “our character is defined by a large influx of visitors throughout the year, which places us in a demanding environment. Therefore, we work with documentation from multiple countries and with situations that require increasingly precise and up-to-date technical knowledge.”

The commissioner also emphasised that the best service is provided “with rigorous, top-level training,” and therefore opined that “this congress embodies that spirit.” He added that its charitable nature “aligns perfectly with our commitment to service.” Amorós expressed his pride in participating once again with Aspanion, “with whom we have already collaborated on charitable initiatives that have raised over €80,000.”

For his part, Jesús Carrobles elaborated on the “special significance” of the congress “due to the high educational and technical level of the presentations and because it stems from the memory and respect for a great professional and a great person, José Manuel Montes Peña, whose legacy remains very much alive in police training and in the way we understand public service.”

Carrobles also emphasised the “profound human and solidarity value” of the event, as the funds raised at the congress are donated to Apanion, “an association that represents the best of our society: solidarity, mutual support, and empathy.”

The councillor also highlighted the city's character as “open, welcoming, and accustomed to receiving people from all over the world,” but above all, as “a city committed to safety, coexistence, and continuous training, where cooperation between administrations and security forces is not just a slogan, but a way of working.”

Following the opening ceremony, the presentations and roundtables began, the first of which focused on Apanion and was moderated by Ángela Zaragozí, the Councilor for Equality of the Benidorm City Council. Representatives of the association in the Valencian Community participated in the discussion. Afterwards, another session was held on ‘Documentary Frauds Regarding Motor Vehicles, in the Jurisprudence of the Supreme Court’, in which Supreme Court Justice Vicente Magro participated. Today's program concluded with presentations on ‘Methods of Vehicle Identification by Make and Model’ and ‘Identities That Kill’.
