Benidorm carries out works on the drinking water network to improve hydraulic monitoring in Poniente

Benidorm City Council, through its Department of Water Cycle Management, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the municipal drinking water supply system, has begun work on Villajoyosa Avenue. This project involves sectorizing the water supply network in the western sector, and its implementation will "improve hydraulic monitoring, optimise leak detection, and reduce response times to any incidents that may arise in the network," explained Councillor José Ramón González de Zárate.

The cost of this project is €47,887.26, and the work will be carried out by Audeca SLU.

The Councillor for the Water Cycle has emphasised that Benidorm's municipal drinking water network boasts "high hydraulic performance," but even so, it is "necessary to continue investing in sectorization and sensor installations to maintain current efficiency levels, especially in large areas such as the Poniente district."

The planned work involves constructing two manholes, inside which two flow meters will be installed. These, along with the installation of a photovoltaic-powered remote control station, will allow for the creation of two distinct hydraulic subsectors and their integration into the municipal SCADA system.

González de Zárate stressed the "need" to carry out these actions continuously, if we want to maintain and even improve water management efficiency, which in Benidorm is around 96%." The councillor has highlighted the investments made in recent years, "which have not only prevented supply problems but have also achieved a level of efficiency that has positioned us as a world leader in water management."
