A dozen restaurants will take part in this first event that begins tomorrow and lasts until March 10

Benidorm begins the 2024 gastronomic calendar with the XII Days of the Stew

29 February 2024
Presentación del Benidorm Gastronómico 2024

Benidorm Gastronomic 2024 starts tomorrow, Friday, March 1, with the XII Days of the Stew, a classic in the local gastronomic calendar, which each year and with each event is consolidated and enjoys greater acceptance among residents and tourists. This morning the presentation took place in El Torrejó building, with the presence of Mayor Toni Pérez, the vice president of Abreca, Alex Frattini, and the godfather of Benidorm Gastronomic 2023, Manuel Martínez, from the El Ducado restaurant.

Twelve restaurants in the city will take part in the Stew Days (Bolikki, El Esturión, El lineage de Castilla, Jardín Mediterráneo, La Cava Aragonesa, La Marina, La Tapería, Malpas, Mía Social Club, Pinocchio Playa, Punto de Sal and La Taberna Andaluza), which will be held from March 1 to 10, with menus at 25 euros.

The rest of the Benidorm Gastronómico 2024 calendar is as follows: from April 12 to 21 the IV Tuna Days will be held, and from June 14 to 23 it will be the turn of the XIV Tapas and Pinchos Contest. It will be followed by the III Cocktail Contest from September 13 to 22 and the cycle will close with the XIII Rice Days from October 25 to November 3.

Alex Frattini thanked the City Council for its support in the activities carried out by Abreca and did the same with the godfather of 2023, Manuel Martínez, before stating that 2024 “will be a record year.”

Precisely, the outgoing godfather has been in charge of welcoming the new one; A position that has fallen to Juan Fernández, from El Esturión restaurant. Martínez has expressed his desire for young people to “follow the path of their elders in the hotel and restaurant industry because Benidorm is the best city in Spain.”

Fernández, for his part, thanked “those who have thought of me as a godfather” and in his intervention, he recalled the changes that have occurred in the hospitality industry in Benidorm over the years. Before we fought to see who worked harder and to offer cheaper prices and now it is the opposite, to see who offers more quality” he stated. This has led him to ask new entrepreneurs “to invest in Benidorm, which has many possibilities.”

Mayor Toni Pérez closed the event by pointing out that "Benidorm Gastronómico is something very much ours” and highlighted the growing importance of gastronomy in the idiosyncrasy of the city. "We started this week talking about gastronomy with the EuroToques assembly, a space for reflection and debate for chefs from Spain" and he assured that in Benidorm "the bar, the restaurant, the hospitality industry, is the soul of the street." “Each restaurant becomes the home of those who visit it and many of you do that all year round, but especially with Benidorm Gastronómico.”

Pérez has predicted that the Cuchara Days will be “a success, as always” thanks to the fact that “everyone puts the best of themselves.” In his opinion, gastronomy in Benidorm “is not a complement to anything, but is tourism in itself.”
