The winning images will be exhibited for two months at l’Espai d’Art del Puente and will receive photography products as prizes
Benidorm announces a photography contest on the occasion of ‘Galaxia’ exhibition by the artist Hung-Yi
The Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage has convened a photography contest on the occasion of the exhibition 'Hung Galaxy' by the Taiwanese artist Hung-Yi that from tomorrow, Friday, April 16, will fill with color some of the main streets of the urban center through of 14 sculptures inspired by the culture of the Asian country.
The councilor of the department, Ana Pellicer, has stated that “we want to involve the public in this exhibition, and that residents and visitors project their creativity and their vision of this outdoor exhibition through the photographs of the sculptures with Benidorm as Background curtain". At the same time, "this contest constitutes a dynamic and complementary activity to an exhibition that constitutes a first-class cultural event as it is signed by one of the most prestigious artists in the East and a reference last years of urban art."
In fact, as the mayor recalled, “the‘ Hung Galaxy ’exhibition has been seen in large cities in the United States such as San Francisco, Washington and New York; as well as in Tokyo and Shanghai ”. After Benidorm the show will stop at Paseo del Prado in Madrid.
The photography contest will be open until May 2, the deadline for participants to send their images to the Department through the email patrimonihistoric@benidorm.org. Each participant may submit a maximum of 3 photographs in which any of the sculptures appear sufficiently recognized. The images must have a minimum size of 3,500x5,000 pixels of resolution and the participants will be responsible for being the only authors of the same.
Pellicer explained that “we ask the participants that the images have this minimum size, since the winning photographs will be exhibited for approximately two months in l’Espai d’Art Urbà de El Puente”. According to the rules of the contest, there will be three prizes and a second prize endowed respectively with 400, 300, 200 and 100 euros in photography products. The Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage has encouraged citizens "to share their photographs on social networks to give even more projection to this incredible exhibition and with it to our city, using in their publications the 'hashtags' #BenidormTeEspera, #BenidormExpone and #GalaxiaHung ”.
Likewise, the councillor has reported that "throughout today all the sculptures that make up the exhibition arrive in the city, and that, after the assembly process, they will be able to be enjoyed this weekend and until next 12 July". Of the 14 sculptures, "four will be installed at Plaza de la Hispanidad, two on Calle Gambo, six on Avenida del Mediterráneo and two at Plaza de Sus Majestades los Reyes de España, in front of the Town Hall."
