The amount of the aid ranges between 95 and 135 euros per month, with a maximum amount of 2,000 euros per student
Benidorm allocates 220,000 euros to aid for psychopedagogical treatments, 50,000 more than the previous year
The Department of Education of Benidorm City Council is going to allocate 220,000 euros to collaborate with the cost of the psycho-pedagogical treatments that the city's students will receive during the next year, "50,000 euros more than in 2022", according to the councillor of the department, Maite Moreno.
Moreno recalled that "these grants are convened annually to make it easier for minors from families with more limited resources to access treatment to attend to different types of disorders or special needs." Through this aid, “the disbursement that families are going to make during the year 2023 in the private treatments that schoolchildren receive is partially covered, thus guaranteeing that all Infant, Primary and Secondary students who need it can access these care services”.
The councilor explained that "in a situation of uncertainty such as the current one, with energy prices and the shopping basket skyrocketing, the economy of families is suffering, and for this reason we have considered it appropriate to increase the total budget for this aid, going from 170,000 euros this year to 220,000”.
Moreno has pointed out that "with this increase, added to the previous year, in just two years the City Council has practically doubled the money allocated to this call for aid, thus reinforcing the support provided to families in Benidorm".
The treatments that can be paid for through this aid are those focused on specific learning disorders, oral language, school maladjustment, early stimulation, and high intellectual abilities. All treatments will be attended by psychologists, pedagogues, speech therapists, educational psychologists, and specialized therapists.
In general, the beneficiaries of this aid must be students enrolled in educational centers in Benidorm who have a diagnosis of a related disorder or be immersed in a diagnostic process to confirm or rule it out. In addition, the entire family unit must be registered and reside in Benidorm.
The councillor of Education has indicated that the maximum amount to be subsidized for a maximum period of 11 monthly payments in 2022 "ranges between 95 and 135 euros per month up to a maximum of 2,000 euros during the eleven months".
The period to apply for these aids will be open from November 21 to December 2 and must be processed at the offices of the Municipal Psychopedagogical Office, located at the CEIP Ausiàs March -Avenida Venezuela- from Monday to Friday from 09:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 12:00 to 14:00.
The complete bases of these grants, which include the requirements and documentation to be provided, can be consulted in the Education section of the website https://benidorm.org, where the application form is also available.
