The City Council is reinforcing signage for ravines and flood zones and is urging residents to avoid risk areas and unnecessary travel

Benidorm activates the alert system for the population through the municipal screen network in response to the orange alert for rain

At 10:00 p.m. today, Benidorm City Council activated its public information system through the municipal screen network in response to the orange alert for rain along the entire coast of the province of Alicante, declared by the Valencian Regional Government's Emergency Coordination Centre (Aemet), based on the Aemet forecast. This network includes all the screens installed on public roads, as well as the technical milestone and the technical stop on Avenida del Mediterráneo.

Benidorm City Council's Municipal Operational Coordination Centre (CECOPAL) met at 8:00 p.m. to assess the situation following the declaration of this alert. During this meeting, chaired by Mayor Toni Pérez, the activation of this alert system was agreed upon.

Likewise, the existing flood zone signage in ravines, gullies, and surrounding areas has been reinforced with fencing for the duration of this emergency due to heavy rainfall.

In response to this signage, the public is asked to heed the recommendation not to enter or circulate in these areas.

We would also like to remind you that, as a preventative measure, the Benidorm City Council Spokespersons' Board agreed yesterday, Tuesday, to change the location of the institutional plenary session to be held tomorrow in celebration of October 9th, which was initially scheduled to be held at El Castell. This event will now take place in the Benidorm City Council Auditorium at 10:30 a.m.

Likewise, the CECOPAL meeting received with alarm the alert issued publicly by Red Eléctrica, warning of a possible imminent risk of a blackout in our country. In response to this alert, and in anticipation of what may ultimately occur, the City Council has taken the appropriate measures to ensure communications between the Local Police, Civil Protection, and other security forces, as well as to guarantee vehicle refuelling and the provision of essential services.

While this orange alert due to rain persists, the public is asked to avoid unnecessary travel, to take extreme caution in outdoor activities and spaces, and to remain alert for possible updates and official communications through the Benidorm City Council and Local Police channels.
