There are 197 places available this year for children aged 0 to 2, in addition to the P2 classrooms available in five public schools

Application period open for places in Benidorm municipal nursery schools and SAPI

Benidorm City Council has opened the application period for places at the city's three municipal nursery schools—Fontanelles, Les Caletes, and El Tossalet—and at the Nanets Early Childhood Care Service (SAPI). Councillor for Education, Maite Moreno, announced that "the provisional offer for the 2024/2025 school year for children aged 0 to 2 in the municipal network is 197 places for families with children born in 2023, 2024, and 2025." She added that the application period will run until May 11.

The provisional vacancies are divided into 16 places for children aged 0, 114 for children aged 1, and 67 places for children aged 2, in addition to those also offered at five public preschool and primary schools in the municipality. Regarding the preschool units for children aged 0 and over, Moreno indicated that "to enrol a child born in 2025 in classrooms at this level, they must be four months old by September 1, 2025."

The councilor also clarified that "the overall supply at the three municipal preschools exceeds the places available, but some of the school places are already occupied by students enrolled in previous years who have confirmed their enrollment and will move up a level in September." She also indicated that "depending on the demand from families registered in Benidorm, there would be the possibility of expanding the number of vacancies" for children aged 1 and 2 in Nanets.

The application process for places at the preschools and the SAPI will be done online through the City Council's Electronic Office (https://sede.benidorm.org/inicio). Moreno emphasised that "following the dynamics implemented by the Regional Ministry in its procedures, a digital certificate will be required to formalise the application."

The councillor also indicated that the City Council will set up a help desk for families who lack the technological means for electronic processing. This desk can be accessed at the Department of Education, located on the third floor of City Hall. To do so, an appointment must be made by calling 966815471.

Families must attach all the required documentation to their application in PDF format. This documentation can be found on the municipal website, in the Education section, https://benidorm.org/es/ayuntamiento/concejalias/educacion, under the section "Registration for specialised municipal services for early childhood for the 2025-2026 academic year."

The application period will be open from April 28th to May 11th. The provisional lists will be published on May 27th, with three days—May 27th, 28th, and 29th—for appeals. The final lists will be published on June 9th, and appeals can be filed from that day until June 11th. Finally, once this process is complete, each school will set the enrollment date for admitted students.

When filling places, "applications from families registered in Benidorm for at least 12 uninterrupted months will be considered first. Next will be families registered for less than a year, and lastly, if vacancies remain, applications from families residing in other towns will be considered," she stated.

She also emphasised that "if demand exceeds the supply of places, only families registered in Benidorm will be included on the official waiting list."

The councillor also noted that the Generalitat Valenciana (Regional Government) offers 100% tuition assistance to preschools from September to June, meaning that early education at these centres is free during the school year. Benidorm City Council offers 100% assistance to the Early Childhood Care Service (SAPI-NANETS) from September to June for families registered in Benidorm.

Ministry of Education for P2

Aside from the municipal offer, Councilor Maite Moreno noted that Benidorm "has 90 additional places for 2-year-olds, for boys and girls born in 2023, in the classrooms set up for this purpose at the Aitana, Vasco Núñez de Balboa, Mestre Gaspar López, Puig Campana, and La Cala schools." The councilor clarified that "the registration fee for these classrooms will be the same as that established by the Regional Ministry for the second cycle of Early Childhood and Primary Education."
