42 works compete for the prizes of the XXXV Benidorm New Creators Contest

42 obras optan a los premios del XXXV Concurso de Nuevos Creadores de Benidorm

The XXXV edition of the New Creators Contest in the modalities of painting and sculpture organized every year by the Youth Department of Benidorm City Council, has registered a total of 42 works that can now be visited from today in the exhibition that has been inaugurated this noon at Espai d'Art of the City Hall.

The exhibition has 29 paintings and 13 sculptures, “which represents a significant increase in the number of sculptures since in the last edition there were only four,” said the Youth Councilor, Ana Soliveres. 27 artists (13 men and 14 women) from different areas of the national territory participated in the contest.

The exhibition will be open to visitors until March 1, when the jury's decision and the awards ceremony will be read at 12:30 p.m. The first prize in the painting category is awarded with 1,000 euros, the same amount as for the first prize in the sculpture category. There will also be a special prize for the best work whose author is under 18 years of age.

The councillor highlighted “the significant increase in participants in this edition”, which in her opinion “is an example of the impact that this contest is having”. Soliveres has assured that his department “will continue working to support and encourage the creativity of our young people” and has highlighted that with this type of initiative “we all win” because “artists have a place to exhibit their work and creations and we as the City Council increase our artistic heritage.”
