Benidorm celebrates the European Mobility Week starting on Sunday

This morning the programming of events of the European Mobility Week 2018 has been announced that will start on Sunday under the slogan 'Combine and move'. The European Mobility Week is coordinated at the national level from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition. The initiative, which emerged in 1999 and has the support of the European Commission, aims to raise awareness among policy makers and the public of the negative consequences for public health and the environment of the irrational use of cars in the city, as well as as the benefits of using sustainable means of transport such as buses or bicycles.

Programming

The first of the activities will take place on Sunday the 16th, at 6:00 p.m., with a cyclist route through the cycling ring of Levante, with departure and arrival at the new TRAM intermodal halt. On Monday, September 17, at 8.30 am, there will be a walking tour that will leave from the FGV station at its confluence with Beniardà Avenue. The same Monday, in the afternoon, between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm, will be the opportunity of alternative sports on Italia street.

On Tuesday 18 the day of 'Promoting sustainable mobility' will be held. At 13.00 hours the parking of vehicles of Els Tolls - Puig Campana will be presented. In the same place, between 17:00 and 20:00 there will be a second session of alternative sports and citizen coexistence. On Wednesday Mobility Week will put its focus on public transport with the start-up of an urban transport stop at the intermodal stop. In the afternoon, on Italia street, at 5:00 pm, new activities of coexistence, leisure and alternative sports.

On Thursday, September 20, it will be the day dedicated to 'Road Education'. At 10.00 am in the Municipal Traffic Children's Park where security will be worked on, especially by children, on daily trips to schools. In the afternoon, Italia Street will be again, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, a place for local meetings and alternative sports. On Friday, September 21, Mobility Week will focus on the promotion of responsible car use. The day will start with a visit to the parking garage of the FGV station with Beniardà Av. In the afternoon, alternative sports and civic coexistence will be repeated on Italia street, at 5:00 p.m.

The last day of the European Mobility Week in Benidorm will be held on Saturday 22: the 'Day without a car'. The circulation of vehicles on Armada Española Avenue (limited public transport, emergency and residents) will be restricted from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.
