The Board of Spokesmen supports the proposal of the Commission of the award 'Ciutat de Benidorm', which will be delivered on October 9
Benidorm grants its cultural distinction to the doctor and professor Francesc Xavier Llorca Ibi
Benidorm City Council will award the cultural distinction 'Ciutat de Benidorm' to the doctor in Catalan Philology and Professor of Secondary Education Francesc Xavier Llorca Ibi. The Board of Spokesmen has endorsed today the proposal transferred to the mayor, Toni Pérez, by the external commission that is responsible for this distinction, composed of the people and entities that in previous editions have obtained this award and that met earlier this week .
With this distinction, which will be delivered on October 9 during the institutional plenary of the Day of the Valencian Community, is recognized "the outstanding training and academic activity" of Francesc Xavier Llorca Ibi; his work of "investigation of ethnolinguistic aspects directly related to Benidorm and the Marina Baixa region"; his "divulgative works on diverse very interesting subjects of Benidorm"; and his "remarkable involvement with the educational and sociocultural fabric of Benidorm".
All this investigative, informative and teaching activity has been reflected in the publication of various books and articles, such as' Talassonímia dels mariners de Benidorm '(1991),' El llenguatge mariner de la Marina '(2000) -thesis doctoral-,' Vocabulari benidormer de la ramaderia '(2000),' Llengua d'arraix. The Valencian almadrabera parla '(2008),' De la Cala al Racó. Poesies benidormeres by Josep Zaragoza i Pérez ("el Carreró") '(1997),' L'IES l'Almadrava. Professor at the University of Alicante (UA), between 1991 and 1995 he taught at the IES L'Almadrava, and is closely linked to the musical culture of the city through the l'Illa Music Society and the Choral Association from Benidorm
