Racó de l´Oix / La Creu
Some photographs of the late 50’s and 60´s by local photographers Simeón Ferrer and Quico, shows the transformation of the city with the arrival of tourism.
We can see the Mediterranean Avenue under construction and the first apartments, buildings and hotels that were gaining ground in the fields of almond and olive trees.
Although the first tourists started coming to our city in the early XX century, it is not until the second half when the transformation took place in Benidorm. Specifically in 1953, when the proposed development of Levante beach, was approved. The project also included Mediterranean Avenue as we see in this photo.
