Platja de Ponent/ La Cala
La Cala, in Poniente beach is perhaps the least known because its tourist exploitation has been less than Levante beach. It is a more residential area and it is shown not only in urban density, but in the kind of catering establishments and businesses.
In the 50's it was an unspoilt beach bounded by the national road towards Alicante from where you could see the small town situated on Canfali rocks, as we can see in the picture by Simeón Nogueroles. However, on top of the hill we have behind us, there was one of the earliest human settlements in the area. We invite you to visit it, not only to see one of the most beautiful views of the town but to know a little about the origins of the city.
