El Torrejó
Based on the picture made by Antonelli in 1575, a military engineer to whom the king Felipe II ordered to make a report about the coastal defence, many historians identify this tower as ‘torrejó’, according to the oral tradition.
There is documentation from the early XIX century which talks about the need to put up a place with trees for the first tourists who came to take ‘sea baths’. Since then, this square opens the walk that led to Levante beach where the first hotels, hostels and chalets began to settle.
