Carrer Major
All historical documentation evidence the existence of two walls in the village. One around the castle and the military installations an another one around the houses, by the church. Both had a moat and a drawbridge.
In the case of this street, it seems to be one of the exits to Camino Real de Valencia. It is considered the main road connecting with Alameda street, outside the village.
The houses on this street are narrow adapted to the slope, with a side door and two floors, known as ‘casa a una mà’.
Inside the houses there were patios where there was a well to collect rainwater, since water scarcity in Benidorm has been a constant throughout history.
