The Valencian music concert of SM l’Illa closes the programming of ‘October 9’
Benidorm ended last night the events scheduled for the commemoration of 'October 9' with a concert of Valencian music by l'Illa Musical Society in Julio Iglesias auditorium in l'Aigüera Park, which was attended, among others, by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councillor of Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez.
Under the direction of Feipe Juan Lanuza, SM l'Illa performed a program with compositions by local and Valencian authors such as the pasodobles 'Sofía', 'Ateneo Musical' and 'El K'Sar el Yedid', a 'Suite de suites' of three traditional pieces and the musical poem 'Paradise' by the noveldense Óscar Navarro, nominated for the Latin Grammy 2020.
With the interpretation of the regional anthem, the concert and the events organized by the City Council on the occasion of the Valencian Community Day closed. Some acts that started last Thursday with a recital of Valencian and traditional compositions by SM La Nova in the Parque de Foietes. On Friday morning, the traditional institutional act of '9 d'octubre' was held, in which the cultural distinction 'Ciutat de Benidorm' was awarded to Francisco Pérez Bayona, 'Quico, the Photographer' in recognition of his contribution to “Keep alive the history” of the city, giving “graphic testimony for more than 50 years of the life of Benidorm in all its aspects”.
