UM closes the concerts in tribute to Santa Cecilia with a recital by the Symphonic and Youth Band

Benidorm Unión Musical has closed this Sunday the concerts in tribute to Santa Cecilia, patroness saint of music, with a recital in two parts by the Youth Band and the Symphonic Band, respectively. This concert, framed in the Music-Cultural Days organized by the dean musical entity of Benidorm, has been held in the Crystal Palace in Gran Hotel Bali; The mayor, Toni Pérez, among others, have attended it; the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez; members of the Corporation; the honorary president of the UM, Jaume Antón; the president of the musical society, Mª Carmen García; and the director of honor, Rafael Doménech.
Under the direction of Rafa Gómez, the Youth Band has started the recital with ‘El barco pirata’ by David Postiguillo, followed by ‘The Tempested’, by Robert W. Smith. Guillermo Ruano's "Capitán corchea", "Paradise" by Óscar Navarro and an arrangement of "La luz que nace en ti" by La oreja de Van Gogh's have completed this first part of the concert; a theme the latter in which the Youth Band has been accompanied by the School Choir, directed by Mª Carmen López.
Already in the second part of the recital, entitled ‘Sounds of the world’, the Symphonic Band of Unión Musical has performed ‘Lord Tullamore’ by Carl Wittrock and the composition of Victoriano Valencia ‘Arrullo’ with his movements Mocarin, Goyo and Mayo. Under the baton of Oswaldo Olmos, the Symphonic Band has dismissed the concert with Alfred Reed's ‘Segunda suite’ and his Son Montuno, Tango, Guaracha and Pasodoble.
After congratulating the Musical Union for the concert, the mayor stressed that "music has made us carry a very hard year better", and stressed that the activity of the entity, which is rounded off with its Music-Cultural Days, " they promote musical training and culture for all ”.
Taking the words of the president of the UM, Toni Pérez wished that the feast of Santa Cecilia next year could be celebrated in the new hall of the cultural center; "A challenge" in which "we have to make an effort" to "become a reality".
The programming of the Music-Cultural Days of Unión Musical of Benidorm will continue in the coming days and will last until January 2, the date on which the New Year's Concert is scheduled, in which the Symphonic Band will perform together with the soprano Marlene Aquino.
