The Mayor appreciates food donations from companies and individuals, an example of solidarity, that make this initiative possible
Tomorrow, Wednesday, the fifth installment of ‘Menjadors a casa’ program promoted by Benidorm City Council
The free municipal program ‘Menjadors a casa’ is preparing its fifth installment that will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6. The objective continues to be, explained the mayor Toni Pérez, “to attend to all students of public schools in Benidorm registered in the town, providing them with a canteen service like the one they receive during the course in their educational centers; and alleviate the situation of many families. "
‘Menjadors a casa’ is an initiative of the Municipal Food Guarantee Network that began its deliveries on April 7 and has continued on April 17, 22 and 29. On Wednesday May 6, the fifth installment will take place. "The program will be active," the mayor confirmed, "while the suspension of academic activity decreed by the Covid-19 crisis lasts."
For the distribution of these menus, the City Council has set up delivery points attended by volunteers from the Collective Help Network (#RAC) of Benidorm City Council and municipal staff in all the neighborhoods of Benidorm. Depending on the location of the student's school, families must go to Casa del Fester and José Llorca Linares social center, Les Caletes Municipal Children's School and CEIP El Murtal, Ausiàs March and Els Tolls. The delivery is between 09:00 and 13:30.
Each family will receive, as in the previous installments, a weekly batch of balanced menus consisting of first and second courses, fruit, dairy and water. All menus are gluten-free and refrigerated and can be consumed within the next 20 days. This time a packet of hot chocolate is included, after the donation made by the company Marcos Tonda, which will go to these “Menjadors a casa” program and Cáritas.
This municipal program serves more than a thousand beneficiaries for dining grants that are not being served by the Ministry of Education, including minor beneficiaries of the type A grants who have had incidents in receiving the 'purchase vouchers' by the Ministry and other minors reported by the schools themselves, all of them registered in Benidorm.
Mayor Toni Pérez has thanked "very sincerely the donations that companies and individuals are making to develop this solidarity initiative in Benidorm that helps us overcome the social crisis caused by the health crisis."
