Successful participation in the XIV Vertical Ascent to Bali, dominated by Piotr Lobodzinski and Lenka Svabikova

The 14th edition of the Vertical Ascent to the Gran Hotel Bali was celebrated this Saturday with a successful participation and without being able to beat the record of last year. In total there were 325 athletes - 65 more than the previous year - who have dared with the 52 floors and 924 stairs of the hotel establishment, the highest in Benidorm. Among the participants there were more than 30 elite athletes, and the top eight in the men's world ranking.  

The Councilor for Sports, Ana Pellicer, has followed the test, which has taken place at 17.00 hours.

 In the male and female elite categories, the test has been dominated by Piotr Lobodzinski and Lenka Svabikova. The first has covered the distance in 4 minutes and 26 seconds, six seconds more than those scored last year by Christian Rield, who today made the third best time with 4 minutes and 34 seconds. The Colombian Frank Nicolás Carreño has achieved the second best mark with 4 minutes and 29 seconds.

 In the women's elite category, Svabikova was the fastest, with 5 minutes and 56 seconds. Rosi Llorens was the second ranked with 6 minutes and 16 seconds, the same time that has marked Maria Beltran, who has been third by thousandths.

 In the Open Men category the victory was for Salva Rambla, with 5 minutes and 14 seconds; Followed by Pascual Martinez -5 minutes and 17 seconds- and Sergio López -5 minutes and 27 seconds. In the feminine modality, the best mark has been the 6 minutes and 38 seconds of Maria Fuentes; Three seconds more has been the time of Tamara Canet, while Elena Florenti is finished in 6 minutes and 49 seconds.

 As in previous years, firefighters have also joined the competition, facing the 924 steps of the fully equipped Gran Hotel Bali. The local Xomi Seguí was the fastest, climbing to the top of the building in 9 minutes and 2 seconds carrying all the equipment of the firemen.  

Finally, the organization has recognized the best veteran athlete; A recognition that has been for Julián Barrios, who has 77 years has crowned the Gran Hotel Bali in 11 minutes 55 seconds.

 For the third consecutive year, the Vertical Ascent to the Grand Hotel Bali is part of the Towerrunning World Association circuit, along with the evidence of iconic buildings such as the Empire State Building in New York, the Eiffel Tower, Taipei 101 in Taiwan and Others located in Canada, Austria, Germany, Poland, Australia, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Mexico and Brazil.
