SM La Nova opens the program for ‘October 9’ with traditional Valencian music
Last night the La Nova Musical Society opened the program organized by Benidorm City Council on the occasion of 'October 9', Valencian Community Day, with a concert in which compositions by Valencian authors and traditional pieces were played. A concert attended by, among others, the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, and which took place in the central square of the Parque de Foietes, arranged for the occasion following all health guidelines and protocols.
During the concert, the band led by Francisco José Rovira performed pasodobles, Moorish and Christian marches and adaptations of popular pieces signed by Valencian and local composers such as' Malaguenya de Barxeta ',' Casa de Valencia ',' 9 d'octubre ',' Cid, 'Als berebers' or 'Alba Carrió'.
The commemorative program of the '9 d'octubre' has continued today with an institutional act in which the cultural distinction 'Ciutat de Benidorm' has been awarded to Francisco Pérez Bayona, known as 'Quico, el Fotgrapher', in recognition of his contribution to “keep the history alive” of the city, giving “graphic testimony for more than 50 years of the life of Benidorm in all its aspects”. The Unión Musical de Benidorm has been in charge of interpreting the hymns of the city, the region and Spain during the act.
l’Illa Musical Society will be in charge of closing this Sunday, the 11th, the program for ‘October 9’ with a concert at Julio Iglesias auditorium in l’Aigüera Park starting at 8.30 pm.
