The skatepark receives the homologation for competitions and national tests

El patinódromo recibe la homologación para competiciones y pruebas nacionales

The Benidorm skating rink has been approved by the Skating Federation of the Valencian Community for "tests of autonomic and national character". The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the mayor of Sports, Arturo Cabrillo, reported that the Federation announced yesterday the approval, once the technicians of the body have certified that "this installation meets the requirements of layout, dimensions and safety measures and regulatory protection. "

The mayor and the Councilor for Sports, along with other members of the corporation, have visited the facilities that today have been able to enjoy dozens of young skating enthusiasts.

Pérez stressed the "effort" that the City has made to light some facilities that with this approval become, more if possible, in "a reference that is not found in many places not only of the Valencian Community, but of Spain". Some facilities, in addition, that fit within the "environment of the Park of the Séquia Mare", green space that will begin to be built in the near future and that has been conceived for "leisure, recreation and sports".

As the mayor recalled, beyond the acquisition of land, "we have invested around 189,000 euros" in the construction of the skatepark, although the award has allowed the City Council to have "30% improvements" that have been intended for the construction of a stand, a perimeter road and the installation of services such as lighting.

The mayor remarked that "the growth of sports infrastructures stems from the sensibility of those who see that not everything has to be a bet for the majority sport, but also for the alternative ones", which sometimes "are a minority in organized practice" but that has a great potential of practitioners thanks to the climate of Benidorm ".

In this sense, he recalled that "skating is born as a municipal school", and then set up as a club Patina Benidorm. At this point, it was necessary "a space to grow" and to offer "more security guarantees" for the practice of this sport.

Pérez has advanced that from the Department of Sports is working on an agreement with the club to "take over the surrounding facilities," so that "can have better services," and to "encourage the municipal school skating greater offer and possibilities for the practice of this sport modality ".
