Some fifteen runners have held a night race in solidarity with women with cancer

Record of participation and public in the 'III Trail Javier Velasco a por ellas de Anémona'

27 May 2018
Récord de participación y de público en el ‘III Trail Javier Velasco por ellas de Anémona’

325 people took the start this morning in the third edition of the 'Javier Velasco Trail for them' that the athlete from Benidorm organized in solidarity with the cause that defends Anemone, the Self-Help Group of Women with Breast Cancer. Previously, Velasco, accompanied by a fortnight more runners, have made a night tour that began around 9.00 pm last night, in Benissa, and after overtaking Bernia and Finestrat, it has ended about 9.00 am today in Benidorm .

In the morning, the group of night runners and the 325 registered in the trail have been concentrated in the Foietes Park on the occasion of the Anémona party, which was attended by the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; Councilor for Sports, Arturo Cabrillo, Social Welfare, Angela Llorca; and the one of Equality, Paquita Ripoll, in addition to other companions of corporation. At 10.00 the participants have taken the exit in the senderista march; at 10:20 those in the 9 km trail and at 11:30 the children under six years old. Among the registered runners, Arturo Cabrillo.

Ruben Caballero won in absolute male category, with a time of 27 minutes and 19 seconds. After him Dario Fracassi and Ignacio Cardona reached the goal. In absolute female category, the first to reach the goal was Ann Selby, with 33 minutes and 58 seconds, and then Sonia Tirado and Cristina Bonacina. Of the rest of the tests, not being competitive, there is no classification.

The president of Anémona, Maria Botella, was very satisfied with the success of the call that has "exceeded the most optimistic forecasts" and thanked "the unconditional support of the City Council, all the councils involved and Javier." For Botella, the most exciting moment of the morning was "to see children under six participating, how well they have spent it and how they have enjoyed collecting their medals". In addition to the participants, Foietes have concentrated dozens more people who have shown their solidarity with Anémona by acquiring t-shirts and other marketing objects or by consuming in the bar of solidarity that the Association of Penyes 'Verge del Sofratge' has unselfishly installed.
