The rain gauge records 21 l / m2 in 30 minutes in Rincón de Loix

Rainfall leaves an average of 15.6 l / m2 in Benidorm in just half an hour

González de Zárate urges the Ministry to carry out the pending works that should have started in 2018

The rainfall registered at dawn today in Benidorm has left an average of 15.6 liters per square meter in just 30 minutes, according to the different rain gauges located in the municipality. This reading refers to the volume of water fallen in just half an hour, which accounts for the significant magnitude of rainfall.
Thus, in the rain gauge installed in El Murtal 15 l / m2 had been collected in that time, while in the one located in the Drinking Water Treatment Station (ETAP) the record has been 11 l / m2. The area of Benidorm where the rainfall has left more water has once again been the Rincón de Loix. The rain gauge in this area indicated that 21 l / m2 had been collected in those 30 minutes.
These amounts could increase if the rainfall continues throughout the day. However, according to the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) the probability of rain is very small for the rest of the day and only reaches 35% after 6 pm.
The Councilor for Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, stressed that “there have been significant amounts in a very short space of time”, but despite this “the city has worked very well. We are prepared for any rain that may come ”.
The councilor has valued the investments made by the City Council in recent years by stating that “we have spent a lot of money and the results are now being seen. Before we had many problems at certain points and now there are hardly any incidents ”.
However, González de Zárate has blamed the Generalitat “for not complying with what it signed in the agreement to start the works in 2018”, some purification works that should have been carried out from Castellón street to Mediterranean avenue “because that spillway is saturated and can be seen in Ametlla de Mar and on the beach ”.
For this reason, the councillor has remarked that the City Council "has to invest but the Regional Goverment do not put its part of the money." "The Regional Goverment does not do what it says, it forgets Benidorm and this is one more evidence", the councilor added.
González de Zárate explained that due to the rains last morning there have been "minimal incidents on Zamora Street and in La Cala that are already cleaning and fixing municipal technical services."
