The PSOE asks Toni Pérez for a report that clarifies the destination of all the economic and material aid from the people of Benidorm due to the DANA

11 February 2025
El PSOE pide a Toni Pérez un informe que aclare el destino de toda la ayuda económica y material de los benidormenses por la DANA

The Socialist Municipal Group of Benidorm has submitted through the municipal register the request for a complete report from the Mayor, in which the destination of all the economic and material aid that, under the organization of the council, has been delivered to the municipalities affected by the DANA and to the Generalitat Valenciana is specified in detail. Escoda has highlighted that Benidorm “has risen to the occasion, and the citizen response makes us feel proud of a town that suffers and that suffers alongside the sister towns of Valencia, and that has stood by their side offering everything that was in its power”.

Escoda has explained that during the first days after the DANA, the mayor offered the opposition some data on the technical and human resources of Benidorm that were participating in different types of work in l’Horta Sud, but after a while, the logical thing is to take stock and render accounts. “We would like the list of local police officers who participated to be made public, the equipment and machinery of the concessionaires who work in Benidorm and who went to Valencia, the days on which they have been deployed, the towns in which they have done so or the jobs on which they have focused their efforts.”

At the same time, the socialist spokesperson has asked about the destination of the large quantity of clothing and food delivered during the days that the service was enabled in the Palau d’Esports. “We have seen some photographs of clothing that has not been sent, and we want the reasons why it has not been sent and what destination all this material will have to be explained,” she added.

Finally, the socialist spokesperson has asked about the 473,000 euros of the Consumption Bonus. “We must act with maximum transparency. "It is something that should come from the municipal government itself, as a form of accountability, and in fair correspondence to the population of Benidorm, which had a formidable response to the catastrophe," he added. Escoda has acknowledged that the mayor's multiple obligations in the province may delay this process. Still, he has reminded him, "Toni Pérez's priority should be to dedicate himself to the mayor's office, which is what the citizens have trusted him for, and not to travel around the province in search of the best photo."
