The plenary session approves the acquisition of a plot for future sports facilities next to Palau d'Esports

The corporation agrees unanimously to request that El Castell be declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC)

It also endorses the bidding documents to tender the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant

The plenary session of the corporation has approved by majority the act of cession of land and reserve of use for the acquisition of 13,867 square meters of dotacional sports land in the area of Salto del Agua. A floor that the technicians consider to be the "most convenient" to house new sports facilities due to its proximity to the Palau d'Esports l'Illa. The Councilor for Urban Development, Lourdes Caselles, has indicated that this acquisition is made "by means of compensation with a reserve for exploitation in other sectors," as the General Plan of 1990 points out.

With the unanimous support of the corporation, the motion of the councilor of Historical Heritage, Ana Pellicer, has flourished so that "the necessary legal and administrative procedures for the enhancement of El Castell and the obtaining of the qualification of Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) ". Pellicer has defended that "the most evident existence of historical vestiges in the subsoil of El Castell" makes the protection of this space indispensable.

The majority of the plenary session has approved the bidding conditions for the operation and maintenance service of the wastewater treatment and purification system of the WWTP of Benidorm. The Councilor for Water, José Ramón González de Zárate, has indicated that with the liquidation of the current contract and the tender of the new one, a plenary agreement of 2014 is fulfilled in which it was approved to tender this service once the company had amortized the investments executed after the extension of the contract annulled by the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJ). De Zárate has indicated that in this statement - "totally technical" - the "completion of the new contract has been agreed with the adjustment plan to address the comprehensive management of the entire water cycle through a joint venture.

The plenary session unanimously approved the agreement to the project 'Works of adaptation of the pumping stations of Benidorm and l'Alfàs del Pi' for a budget of 3.7 million euros, and which includes the performance to remodel the pumping stations of Elche Park, Antillas and La Cala. A performance valued at 1.8 million euros and paid by a percentage of 60-40% the Public Wastewater Sanitation Entity of the Generalitat Valenciana (EPSAR) and the City of Benidorm.

Unanimously, the Local Plan for the Prevention of Forest Fires has been given the green light that includes the protocols for action and the measures to be developed to minimize the risk of fires in the municipal area. The proposal, amended by the Liberales de Benidorm group (LiBE), proposes a document that works on prevention, involving citizens in general and forest owners in particular, and in which a close collaboration is foreseen with the County Consortium of Firefighters and with the Canal Bajo del Algar.

By majority, the name of the mobility advisory bodies has been changed according to the relation of mobility with sustainable energy. These bodies are renamed: Commission of Mobility and Sustainable Energy; Council of Mobility and Sustainable Energy; and Forum on Mobility and Sustainable Energy.

The totality of the councilors has approved the adhesion of the City council to the project 'Equipment for the Search of Use', to develop according to the agreement between the Valencian Service of Employment and Training (Server) and the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP). In addition, the City Council's accession to the European SIMPLA project, financed by the EU's Horizon 2020 Program, which aims to develop, implement and finance sustainable urban mobility and energy efficiency policies, has been made possible.

Motions of the opposition

By majority, a motion signed by PSOE, Ciudadanos (Cs), Liberales de Benidorm (LiBE) and Compromís-Los Verdes groups has been approved to improve the financial control of the informative commissions, modifying the Municipal Organic Regulation.

All the councilors of the corporation present have supported a motion presented by the same groups to begin the procedures to build a skate park on land of public ownership, with the possibility of being extended with other facilities in the coming years. The proposal includes, in addition, that it is the plenary session that approves the project of this infrastructure.

By majority has also flourished a motion of the group Cs to nominate as 'Avinguda de la Llibertat' the connecting vials B1 and C arising from the construction of Foietes Park, and connecting roundabouts R1, R2 and R4.

Unanimously, a motion by the Compromís-Los Verdes group has been approved, amended by the PSOE, which includes a battery of proposals to improve the work and health situation of the group of hotel maids. Among the proposals is to urge the provincial, autonomous and national governments to adopt measures such as changing the conditions for early retirement and subsidizing establishments that promote occupational risk prevention policies.

After an amendment of the PP, it has been approved that the City Council supports the dissemination of the second Poblament Charter every April 8, in memory of the document granted to Benidorm by Beatriz Fajardo in 1666.

By majority, a motion has been signed by the non-attached councilor and the deputy spokesman of the Compromís-Los Verdes group, for 2018, to establish that the grant for the payment of garbage, water and sewage for pensioners, long-term unemployed and people with disabilities of up to 200 euros and that reach a maximum of 2,000 residents.

The same speakers have defended a motion to demand that the Central Government include in the General State Budget of 2018 a consignment to build the new police station of the National Police Corps, and that it has been supported by a majority.

Motion of urgency

Outside the agenda, a motion subscribed by the councilor of Sports, Arturo Cabrillo, and the spokesman of the PP municipal group, José Ramón González de Zárate, has prospered by majority, to approve the first phase of construction of a skatepark in Benidorm. Cabrillo has indicated that this skatepark is an "urgent and necessary" installation due to the demand that exists and that it is wanted "to be operative for the first quarter of 2018"; and has detailed that this first phase contemplates "a finish on asphalt so that it can be approved for national competitions". In a second phase, a layer "of resins" that will allow its homologation as an international site will be extended. The mayor has indicated that "the most suitable place, according to the technicians, is the plot that today has been approved in Salto del Agua".
