The traditional Organ Concert Series of Benidorm becomes an International Organ Festival in its sixth edition that will be held, throughout the year, in the Parish of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna the last Friday of January , February, April, May, November and December. This was announced this morning by the Councilor for Culture, Ana Pellicer and the coordinators of the event, the professors of the Alicante Conservatory Joxe Benantzi and Juan Antonio Espinosa.
Pellicer recalled that they are free concerts, which can be performed "thanks to the fact that in the Church of Sant Jaume we have an organ with great sound possibilities". The only instrument of these characteristics with three keyboards in the whole province of Alicante, which allows "to develop a magnificent concert activity". The councilwoman also highlighted the "good predisposition" of the parish priest, Juan Antonio González, who "with his collaborators has always been willing to facilitate the programming of activities in the church."
Pellicer has confirmed that the first three concerts will be organ only but in May, November and December "we will also have other instruments and the participation of two sopranos and a baritone". In fact, José Antonio Gonzaga from Benidorm will be the oboetist who will accompany Joxe Benantzi in the May concert. "The dynamics that this festival is going to acquire," said Pellicer, "will be that musician from Benidorm who takes part in the Grand Recitals will also be invited the following year in the International Organ Festival."
Joxe Benantzi, for his part, pointed out that this type of event shows that Benidorm "not only has sun and beach tourism" and that this festival provides a "specific and rich" cultural offer in many countries where they are located. originating tourists who visit us "move budgets of millions of euros." For his part, Juan Antonio Espinosa pointed out that the November concert will coincide with the celebration of Santa Cecilia and the December concert will be inspired in Christmas.
All the concerts will be at 8:00 pm, after the religious services on Fridays. On January 26 Alessandro Bianchi will intervene. On February 23, Daniel Oyarzábal. On April 27, Mateo Imbruno. On May 25, Jose Benantzi with José Antonio Gonzaga (Oboe). On November 30, Francisco Amaya with soprano Blanca Goméz and baritone Miguel Ángel Viñé. Finally, Miguel Bernall with Julia Ruíz (soprano).
