Several neighborhood and social associations have participated in the details of the Strategy for Sustainable and Integrative Urban Development (EDUSI) prepared by the City Council with the objective of obtaining European funds that will allow to develop in the next six years, actions to improve the quality of life of citizens.
These collectives have received all the information about the draft of the EDUSI document in a meeting held yesterday in the Hall of Acts of the José Llorca Linares social center and attended by the mayor, Toni Pérez; and several councilors of the local government and the corporation. This meeting is part of the process of citizen participation that the City Council has set in motion to publicize this strategy and gather information and input that can improve the document.
EDUSI is based on four basic pillars: improving quality and access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), reducing CO2 emissions, protecting the environment and efficiency in the use of resources, and combating Inequality and poverty through integration policies.
Following the criteria set by the European Union (EU) in its call for grants, it has been proposed that EDUSI's scope of action is Beniardá-Jaime I Avenues. This includes the upper area of Colonia Madrid, Els Tolls district, closer to the Plaza de Toros, and the area of Jaime I with special incidence in Alfredo Corral street.
The call of the EU fo which Benidorm opts, contemplates the possibility of financing up to 50% the actions that are marked in the EDUSI.
The City Council has been enabled the web www.edusibenidorm.org in which the citizens can fill questionnaires about problems and needs that Benidorm has and they can also make their contributions for their possible inclusion in the document EDUSI. These questionnaires are also available at the department of Citizen Participation.
