The municipal street market returns to Foietes next Wednesday, August 30
The fairground is an alternative location when there are events in the sports city Guillermo Amor
Foietes has facilities more prepared, and offers more amplitude and mobility to emergency vehicles and pedestrians
On Wednesday the municipal open market returns to its original Foietes location next week after setting up in Els Tolls fairgrounds sometimes during the past two years. The councilors of Commerce and Mobility, Ana Pellicer and José Ramón González de Zárate, explained that once completed the construction of Foietes Park - which the City Council received from the Conselleria last month - and ended the season of events in the sports city Guillermo Amor, the municipal market will be installed in its traditional location from August 30.
Pellicer emphasized that this location in Foietes is "better" because "it has more breadth" than the fairgrounds for "pedestrians and health and safety services." In addition, "the facilities are more prepared" for the development of this activity, with new parking areas in the vials that have been created and also with more public restrooms around the area such as Mercasa, the sports center, the social center and Foietes park.
In total, 285 stalls of food and non-food products will be set up next week, although Foietes facilities will increase the number of stalls or the size of those already authorized. In this regard, the councilllor of Commerce has clarified that "there is a demand for stalls" that has not been able to be addressed by the limitations of space and mobility imposed by the location in Els Tolls. Nevertheless, with the market already in Foietes definitively "the requests to extend the stalls are going to be contemplated ".
Pellicer and De Zárate have agreed that the installation of the market for nearly two years in the fairground has served to improve these public facilities, which were paved to accommodate the stalls. In addition, with the development of this plot, Els Tolls won "parking spaces" and Benidorm "an alternative location" that allows to continue the activity of the market when events are held in Foietes, something that did not happen previously.
The installation of the municipal market reports to Benidorm City Council an annual income of just over 300,000 euros.
