More than 500 people say good bye to the year running San Silvestre de Benidorm race
More than 500 people have fired the year today, participating in a new edition of San Silvestre de Benidorm, a race that closes the running calendar of the city. As is traditional, many of the runners have covered the 4 kilometers of the test dressed in costumes and Christmas accessories, and some have even done accompanied by their pets.
At 10.30 am the start of the general modality of the race, in which Miguel García of Club Real Sociedad won with a time of 12'23 minutes, followed closely by the local Juan Antonio Fernández and by the Basque Sergio García. Taru Häyrinen has dominated the women's category by covering the distance in 14'38 minutes. The locals Sonia Tirado and Gemma Ann Selby have completed the podium.
The first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer; Councilor for Sports, Arturo Cabrillo; and the mayor of Mobility and Works, José Ramón González de Zárate; They handed out the trophies to the winners of the different categories, including those of the clubs with the most participants in the race: the local entities Spirit and Aguaviva.
Before starting the general test, the family race was held, and at noon it was the turn of the youngest children.
