Minute of silence in Benidorm in memory of the woman murdered yesterday in Sagunto
This afternoon a minute of silence has been observed in memory of the latest victim of sexist violence in our country. The municipal corporation, with the first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, and the councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, at the head, along with public workers, has wanted to show in this way its solidarity with the victim's family and reiterate its strongest reject this social scourge.
On this occasion, the victim was a sixty-year-old woman who, at around 8:30 p.m. yesterday, was allegedly murdered by her ex-partner, of the same age, who then jumped into the void from a fourth floor and died. The man had a restraining order in force.
This is the ninth case of sexist violence this year, the first in the Valencian Community. The Department of Equality reiterates that Benidorm City Council can make specialized technical personnel available to any woman who needs it. It also insists on the convenience, in the face of any hint of violence, of using the free telephone number 016, which is available in 53 languages 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which also leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to delete it after use from the call log of the mobile phone.
