This midday there has been a minute of silence against sexist violence at the gates of Benidorm City Hall, convened by the Department of Equality. The acting mayor, Ana Pellicer, and the councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, have headed the rally in which representatives of the three municipal groups, civil servants and neighbors have also participated.

On this occasion the memory of the 41-year-old woman who lost her life on Thursday night, October 31 in Castellbisball (Barcelona), supposedly at the hands of her husband, 52, who gave herself to the Mossos de Esquadra subsequently.

On the other hand, judicial sources confirmed on the same day 31, as sexist violence, the case that remained under investigation of a 39-year-old woman, who was found dead at her home in Almeria on July 15. The victim was allegedly murdered by her 50-year-old partner. Today, the number of women killed due to gender violence in Spain in 2019 amounts to 51, a figure that could be increased if three other cases are still being investigated.

The Department of Equality reiterates that women who feel threatened, have at their disposal all municipal public services. They have also influenced the existence of the toll-free telephone number against sexist violence, 016, which serves 52 languages ​​and leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to delete it from the call log.
